About the Event

We are currently organizing the 2020 Diaper Drive Donation Event that will take place from March 1 - April 24, 2020. We have arranged for collection bins to be set at CSUSM Main Campus and Temecula Campus for diaper drop off and we have an Amazon link to purchase the diapers quickly and easily. The purpose of the Diaper Drive is to collect donations of various sized diapers to be given to low-income families that we serve in the Student-Run Health Clinics in San Diego County. In addition to collecting donations, we are also spreading awareness of the Clinics as well as the importance of hygiene care for pediatric patients. Last year we successfully donated over 14,000 diapers!! This year our goal is to donate 20,000 diapers to those in need! We know this is an ambitious goal, but we are certain that with the correct collaboration and outreach, we will be able to meet our goal!

Will you donate diapers to those in need? If so, we and the recipients of these gifts would be incredibly grateful.

Why Diapers?

The need for diapers in low-income or poor families is constantly on the rise. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, on average, each infant requires 6-12 diapers every day (woahh a lot). This can rack up cost to 70 to 80 dollars extra per month. In order to alleviate this added expense, families often attempt to reuse diapers or not change them as frequently. As a result, babies can be placed at risk for serious skin irritations and infections. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of external help for these families and babies. There are no state or federal programs that allocate extra funds to help specifically buy diapers. Furthermore, many childcare centers do not offer free diapers and require parents to provide a supply of them in order to care for the child. However, if parents are not able to leave their children at these facilities, they cannot go to work or school, further exacerbating their financial and diaper need. We would like to ask for your help in increasing the supply of diapers to keep babies clean, dry and healthy!
