OK, you've decided to start looking for an SEO partner to help you scale. Now you find yourself stuck with one big question: How do I find the right SEO partner? Finding the right SEO partner can be a challenge if you lack a solid understanding of SEO. "The SEO industry is full of reputable experts, but some scammers have made many people hesitant to trust SEO." We've seen it countless times. A company was looking for SEO services and started evaluating agencies to help them, but didn't know where to start. Our goal with this article is to create a resource to help business owners see through BS and avoid scammers. We've reached out to dozens of SEO experts to gather their insights. Based on their feedback, we've compiled this list of essential questions to ask when evaluating potential SEO partners. 1. Learn about their history Try searching for SEO providers on local review sites like Google My Business, Facebook, and Yelp. Check out their average rating and read some of their 1, 3 and 5 star reviews for a bad, average and great experience with this company. As with any established business, some negative reviews should be expected, but seeing countless negative reviews should raise red flags. 2. Ask about their SEO process Every SEO company's process will be different. Regardless, their team should be able to easily talk about these processes. Don't hesitate to ask for industry mailing list breakdown of stages and corresponding deliverables at each stage of the process. If you are still unsure, please ask for clarification on any of these deliverables. Much of a salesperson's job is to explain these deliverables in terms anyone can understand. SEO CTA 1 3. Ask about expectations Every now and then we talk to potential clients who think ranking in search engines is an overnight process. Then we reiterate that SEO is a long game and it can take 3-6 months to see results. Take it from us - any SEO company that promises to get you on the first page of Google within a week is full of s**t. While short-term results can be impressive, they are rare. Next time you ask about SEO services, ask what a successful campaign looks like and what you expect to see. 4. Ask about previous jobs Asked to see a case study from one of their previous clients after hearing them benchmark their expected results. Although not all companies offer these services, especially younger ones. Case studies can serve as important benchmarks for measuring outstanding results for a particular service. Marketers always want to highlight outliers, so it should be noted that the results shown in case studies are unlikely to reflect the actual metrics you can expect to see when working with a company.
